Orientation

Introduce yourself, welcome the participants and thank them for their interest in Mentor-Protégé/train your replacement program. The purpose of this program is to help people grow from within and to strengthen the critical areas in the organization.

In the orientation session we will:

• Learn about the program.
• Define mentoring.
• Define a mentor and a protégé as well as the roles
  and responsibilities of each.
• Discuss the benefits of becoming a mentor or protégé.
• Discuss what a successful mentoring program requires.
• Define the attributes of a mentor or protégé.
• Nominate a mentor or protégé.

Handout:

Guide to a Successful Mentoring Program. Distribute and explain mentor/protégé nomination forms. Respond to any questions and collect forms once completed.
